Hello! It’s me, Woody!
I’m guessing you know that by now! And before you say it, yes… that’s my legal name! I’m proud to share the rich history behind it… a name that my mum came across in a newspaper headline right after she gave birth. Awesome!
My superpower is I can freeze time through photos. I’m often regarded as playful, silly, quirky and funny which I find bizarre.
A social extrovert, coffee-powered dude and always young at heart who is up for a good laugh with friends and families. Just say the word “KAPE” and you’ll find me right at your doorstep!
I followed a fairly traditional path (Ateneo High back in 19forgotten, IT degree at San Beda University with units in Masters degree in Lasalle University and 15 years of experience in BPO industry) until 2011… or maybe 2010 (I can’t remember!) when I found my love for photography. I went part time as wedding photographer in 2012, turned full time in June 2016 and have never looked back. (I wonder why my college professors didn’t introduce photography as an alternative career back in the olden days)
Why wedding photography?
People are fascinating. At weddings, you get the chance to see the very best bits of the human experience. From hearing inspirational stories of achievements and learnings to witnessing first hand the connections between friends and families, emotions and joys. At weddings, people lower their barriers and are just their awesome true selves.
As a photographer, nowhere else are you given a free license to capture such a wide range of emotions… regardless of profession and status in life, all barriers down and everybody is just there to be with friends and families. A mix of wedding guests in with a sense of celebration, some good music (hey! Love the 90’s OPM’s… mind you, that’s something i learned from uncles and aunties!) with a dash of ice-cold beer…you have the makings of an awesome event. Capturing the atmosphere of a wedding for people to enjoy in years to come is a fab!
And that’s what drives me, to capture all the awesomeness – from characters and connections between each other to the energy and atmosphere of the day – so that it can be enjoyed again and again in the years to come. Either from people present on the day or those that couldn’t make it or haven’t been born yet. Sometimes I bump into previous brides and grooms at wedding events and hear the ways they’ve enjoyed their photos puts a silly grin on my face and never fails to warm my heart every time.
Well, that’s my story. If there is a slightest possibility that we’ll be a good match, I’d love to hear from you!
Few Random Things!
When I was still dating my wife back in 2008…maybe 2009… nah i think it was 2010… whatever… I bought my first ever DSLR camera and pretended I love photography just to impress her. Fast forward, I ended up falling in love with the camera… and my wife (I think i fell in love her first and then with photography after).
I still keep a 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer in the garage, a TITO car, which I love and my wife hates so much.
Corny as it may seem… but I love JOHN LLOYD and AGA MULACH movies!!!
I was the official photographer/videographer of La Salle Chorale during their international competition in Singapore few years back. They ran short of 1 member thus facing potential disqualification so… they dressed me up, performed with them on stage and did what i do best… LIPSYNC! And tada… We won awards! haha!
